The human eye observes at a frequency of 7 images per second.
The pressure mat scans the stance phase of gait at 150 images per second.
The scan is a useful tool because it takes human bias/error out of the question. The scans are reproducible regardless of who is running the equipment. It is a way of truly analyzing what a person is doing from a person’s point of view and not an assessor. 2 scans are used to pick out abnormalities in a person’s gait which help determine how a custom orthotic gets created specifically for their feet.
Dynamic scans:
- Critiques walking patterns through movement
- Proprietary diagnostic software analyzes digital pressure mat, patient data and translates it into a prescription for orthotics
Static Scans:
- Assesses bilateral pressure distribution illustrates discrepancies foot to foot
- Useful in detecting leg length discrepancies
